How We Check Your Stucco Before We Quote

A quote based on a drive-by look is a quote that grows once we start. Before we price a job, we walk the exterior and check three things specifically:

• Sounding the surface.We tap the stucco with a mallet, listening for a hollow sound that signals delamination. Hollow-sounding stucco needs to be cut out and patched, not just crack-filled, or the new coating will fail over the void within a year.
• Reading the crack pattern.Hairline cracks from normal thermal cycling get treated differently than stress cracks running from window and door corners, which usually point to structural movement rather than surface expansion. We tell you which one you have and why it matters before we quote the fix.

When We Paint — and Why Timing Matters Here

Exterior paint has a real science behind when it can go on, not just what season feels convenient. The industry standard (ASTM D3924) calls for surface temperatures between 50–90°F and at least 5°F above the dew point at the time of application.
